Lottery grant gives Manu greater independence
The Gisborne Life Unlimited Store team is pleased to see Manu Kirikiri out on her new Neo mobility scooter after receiving a Lottery Grant.
“We have worked with Manu to get her application for funding in and resubmitted when she was initially unsuccessful,” says store manager M-J Bloem. “Finally, we are thrilled to see her on her own scooter.”
Manu used to rely on the Sunshine Service Bus to get to her appointments.
The volunteer-run service plays an important role in the Gisborne community, providing door-to-door transport for the elderly and people with disabilities.
But having a mobility scooter now gives Manu greater independence and flexibility to get out and about when she wants.
“What a fantastic change in her life with all the independence of being able to get out and just go see everything,” says M-J.
